Labour Mobility
Since April 2007, Grapeworx has proudly been a Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE), strongly supporting the scheme for its benefits to Marlborough and the wider horticulture and viticulture sectors. The RSE program enables employers to recruit overseas workers during peak seasons when local labour is insufficient.
We have been committed to supporting Thai workers since 2007, and expanded to include recruits from Papua New Guinea in 2016. Our RSE team members come from various provinces in Thailand & PNG, many return year after year, with some having been with us since the scheme began.
At Grapeworx, our RSE staff embody our core values of family and pride. They make significant sacrifices, leaving their families to work with us, bringing dedication and a strong work ethic. Their earnings not only support their own families but also help fund education, small businesses, and community projects back home. The positive impact of the RSE program on communities in Thailand, Papua New Guinea, and beyond is a testament to the spirit of cooperation and shared prosperity.
Transport & Pastoral Care
At Grapeworx, our vehicles are extensions of the workplace, so we ensure they are driven safely and responsibly, in line with New Zealand road rules. Our fleet of vans, tractors, trailers, portable toilets, and motorbikes is meticulously maintained, with all required certifications up-to-date and clearly displayed.
We take pride in the quality of our pastoral care, treating every staff member as part of the wider Grapeworx family. For us, caring for our team isn't just a requirement—it’s about looking after family. Susy, affectionately known as "Mum," ensures every need is met, while staff needing medical appointments are supported by supervisors or our dedicated Field Manager, fondly called "Doctor Moo."
Accommodation
Providing comfortable, welcoming accommodations that feel like a home away from home is a priority for Grapeworx. Our staff live in fully furnished, well-maintained houses, with kitchens equipped for cooking their traditional meals.
Each property includes neat & maintained lawns and garden plots where staff can grow their own herbs and vegetables if they wish. We ensure a spacious living environment, with no more than two people per bedroom and no bunk beds. Family members are housed together whenever possible.
Our staff take pride in their accommodations, often returning to the same house each year, fostering a sense of familiarity, comfort, and community.
Recreation
Grapeworx recognise the importance of cultural and spiritual well-being for our international staff, and we are committed to supporting their traditions and practices while they are working with us in Marlborough.
Our Thai employees regularly visit the local Buddhist temple and actively participate in national celebrations and observance days. Understanding the significant role the Buddhist community plays in their lives, Grapeworx has gone to great lengths to support the local monks.
Similarly, our staff from Papua New Guinea (PNG) are active members of local faith communities. They regularly engage in church events and celebrations, and we accommodate their religious observances by offering days off when needed. This flexibility allows them to practice their faith without compromising their work commitments.
